Just over a week to go now :s
Monday, 04 January 2010 23:36

With just over a week to go my shopping list is getting bigger with items 'i think' i may need, just need to turn that into 'i will' and click on the buy button. Its around this time everyone is contemplating if they have done enough training and i can honestly say.........NO.

After our ride up at Lee Quarry battling with the snow, this years race, if the latest pic is anything to go by, really is going to make the Strathpuffer the toughest winter endurance race. Everyone thinks we are mad, but as nervous as we are about the race its self, there is a great sence of excitment too. Bring it on :P

Winter night time adventure at Lee Quarry
Tuesday, 29 December 2009 23:06

Another one of Jonny and Sean's great ideas this week was to visit Lee Quarry at night in December for a training ride in preparation for the upcoming Strathpuffer race in a few weeks. The weather was barely 1 C with strong winds , sleet showers along with sheet ice and deep snow. Not good for your first ride back after fracturing a finger.

The ride turned out to be more pushing than actual cycling but was good fun ploughing through snow and trying to keep your balance on the sheet ice, although this proved more difficult for Jonny who blamed his shoes all the way round. Roll on Strathpuffer if the conditions are similar to tonight's adventure !

Was looking at one of the daily mtb sites i visit  (www.dirtmountainbike.com) when i found the pic below in their winter riding post. It was either taken near Contin (next to Strathpeffer) or up the road at Golspie. Now only 23 days to go, will the snow stay or go!!

Winter is definetly here!!
Sunday, 20 December 2009 18:16

Snow has covered most of the team members areas for the past few days, espcially today! (sunday). Sean and Jonny was planning on going for a ride at the Penmachno trail, but as soon as they  saw the state of the roads around Widnes, there was no chance they were gonna risk driving on the lanes of Wales. So a quick play on the bikes around the estate followed by a walk with the dogs was the only training they did. With all this bad weather locally, the boys thought it be worth checking the weather up in scotland. And too their surprise it was dry and sunny...........sorry, i mean, snowy and freezing!! Look at the traffic cam pic below and the bbc weather report. Lets hope it gets a bit better over the next 26 days before the race :)
