Altogether 17 riders turned up for what turned out becoming a 25.4 mile (6 hour) epic ride across the Peak District with a group of riders from the Bike Radar forum. The ride was titled as 'a slow ride for unfit people' which straight away we liked the idea of, plus we dont for some reason ride in the Peak district that often so the chance of being shown the area was too good to turn down. Anyway the ride kicked off around 10ish from the resevoir visitor centre car park and luckily for us started with a nice flat forest road, as neither of us where feeling 100% after visiting an all you can eat buffet for Jonny's birthday the night before! Overall the ride was pretty tough, due to the length and muddy condtions but we will no doubt be returning to the Peaks in the near future. See pictures of the ride here |

We had pretty much only ever thought of biking in the snow as something we do on the lead up and during the Strathpuffer race, but luckily whether it be the earths natural cycle, global warming.................right, or if it just happens to be a long winter, the snow has made a come back this week. Alot of people seem to be hating it (and indeed i was too when my toes felt like they were going to fall off last Sunday) but overall we love it, which is why our silly team name probably suits us. All bad weather in general makes rides more of a challange and in some cases more fun and the weekend just gone was a fine example of this. |

Well we all survived the epic race that is Strathpuffer ! With Strathpeffer receiving heavy snowfall and sub zero temperatures leading up to the race we where not even sure if we would even be able to get to the race never mind take part. Luckily for us though the organisers pulled out all the stops and cleared the majority of the course of snow and ice. What with myself and Sean entering as a pair and Jonny and John both insanely entering as Solo's meant that the start of the race we would have 3 of us out on the course at once. Sean managed to draw the short straw meaning he was the one to start the race, leaving me at the start of the first climb holding the 3 bikes. Soon as the race started the elite racers starting sprinting past and powering up the long forest road climb out of the camp site. Couple of minutes past and Sean and Jonny arrived casually walking over, took there bikes and disappeared up the hill leaving me holding the last bike belonging to John who I was starting to think had got lost …. another minute passes and most of the crowd at this point had disappeared back to the comfort of there caravans and tents when John appears … cigar in mouth !
